
DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): A faulty electrical line connected to a residential home claimed the life of a twenty-nine year old man on Thursday, July 21. The tragedy occurred at a village named Longhubtokbi, about 5 kilometres away from Khatkhati under Bokajan sub-division of Karbi Anglong, Assam.
The deceased identified as Kolom Teron, son of Hemari Teron was electrocuted when he was drying clothes on a metal clothesline used at his home. According to the deceased’s father no other family members were at home at the time. It occurred around 10:30 am today.
The father said that they had acquired the power connection only on July 18 last under the BPL scheme. Other villagers pointed to negligence on the part of the electricians who installed the power line at the house. The electric current is believed to have leaked into the tin-roofed house which in turn electrically polarized the metal clothesline tied on to a beam supporting the roof.
