First Bible College in Ukhrul inaugurated

Ukhrul | June 30 : After 100 years of Christianity, Covenant Baptist Bible College & Seminary at Ukhrul Viewland, the first Bible College in Ukhrul district has been inaugurated today. Speaking on the occasion, Victor Keishing, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) General Secretary as the chief guest in the opening ceremony said that people need a "good spiritual leader" in every aspect.
The chief guest also welcomed the initiative stating that it is indeed the utmost need and demanded institution with people going outside the State for the past 100 years, if they wanted to take up Bible studies. He also stated that a Bible College is the only "knowledge Bank' institution nurturing to foster building the power of the next generation wherein the responsibilities and paramount task at hands-people are responsible. Victor, urged the people especially the management of the institution to let it be an "inclusive institution" in order to bridge the divisions, and further said that "politicians can influence religion but religion must not influence politics”.
Reverend Johanan Chelli, president, BBBC&S Bangalore was the speaker during the noon session. Marcus Shimrah, Programme Director, Tangkhul Naga Baptist Theological Association (TNBTA) stated the opening prayer. Angelus K. Themsah, Let. & Education Secy. Tangkhul Naga Baptist Convention (TNBC) was the moderator, while Ashang Kasar, Director, Jesus Gospel ministry, NEI made the introductions. Reverend Sayao Kapai, Executive Secretary NTNBA, Ninglum Wungkhai, Director IMBM and Pastors of various Churches also took part.
