A three-day Foundational Training of Career Teachers for PM SHRI schools Nagaland commenced at SCERT Kohima on March 11.
The Training programme is for implementation of Career Counselling for students in PM SHRI Schools.
Addressing the introductory session, L Jamithung Lotha, IAS, State Mission Director Samagra Shiksha Nagaland appreciated the Antarang Foundation, Mumbai and Youth Net for partnering with the Department of School Education in implementing much needed Career Counselling programme for students in PM SHRI schools.
He cited very high rate of unemployment in the State at 27.4% which is above the National average and stated that Career Counselling support for students will help the students to make career choices based on aptitude and skills.
He also encouraged the PM SHRI school teachers who were identified to be the Career Teachers to take up the task seriously and help students in choosing career path meaningfully.
Lotha reminded the teachers that PM SHRI programme is envisioned to be exemplar schools in the country as such, he urged the teachers to conduct the activities with dedication and conviction.
He also reminded the teachers to be receptive to new programmes and activities as NEP 2020 mandates teachers and school leaders to take up multi tasking roles to bring transformation in education.
He said that timely guidance of students in making right career choice can address the burden of high unemployment rate concerns in the state.
A total number of 40 teachers from 21 PM SHRI GHS and GHSS are attending the programme.
The inaugural session was chaired by Dr Bijano Murry, Joint Mission Director Samagra Shiksha & SNO PM SHRI school.
The programme was also attended by Keruupfeu Rupreo Additional Director SCERT, Avelu Ruho, NCS, Joint Secretary School Education & Deputy Project Director NECTAR Project , officers from SCERT and Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland.
