Gandhi Shilp Bazar in Dimapur underway

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Gandhi Shilp Bazar (District) in Dimapur was inaugurated Er Y Lipongse Thongtsar, Managing Director, Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd (NHHDC). The week-long exhibition, being held at Urban Haat, Dimapur from June 3 to 9, was inaugurated at 11 am.

The event is organised by the NHHDC under the sponsorship of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi.

A total of 40 participants, comprising artisans and weavers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura and various districts of Nagaland, will be exhibiting an extensive range of handloom and handicraft products, reflecting the region’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship, stated a press release received here. 

The primary objective of the Exhibition is to develop and promote sustainable marketing channels in both the domestic and export markets, while establishing a holistic and integrated linkage between the two. 

The event also seeks to create viable marketing opportunities for artisans and weavers, thereby enhancing their economic empowerment and supporting the continued growth of the handloom and handicraft sectors, it added.
