‘Gang of auto rickshaw drivers’ nabbed for robbery

Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): Dimapur police arrested a ‘gang of auto rickshaw drivers’ today, August 30 at around 2:00 am for robbing a passenger who hired the auto rickshaw from the railway station to proceed to Sewak.
The passenger identified as Udaivir Singh, an employee of Sewak arrived at Dimapur by train on transfer to report at the Sewak Headquarter. The passenger stated that he was taken around the town in the auto rickshaw by the driver and his accomplice instead of taking him to the destination. On the way two other accomplices were informed by them about their passenger who came in another auto rickshaw and the four of them stopped at PWD junction and robbed him of his wallet containing about Rs. 20,000/- in cash, his ID card, ATM Debit card and his luggage and other belongings, informed the Additional Superintendent of Police/ PRO, Dimapur in a press note.
The note stated that on being informed about the robbery at the West Station, the duty personnel immediately swung into action and managed to arrest three of the accused who have been identified as  one Raju Gowla (25), S/o Late Bipul Gowla, resident of Power House colony, Nagarjan, one Akiba Sangtam (30), S/o Late Tsithrese, resident of Signal Bosti, Dimapur and one Vishal Munda (25), S/o Hiralal Munda and a resident of Oriya colony, Walford, Dimapur.
Further, the fourth accused who is yet to be identified is absconding. On the revelation of the arrested accused, some of his belongings including his luggage were recovered and returned to the owner. Two auto rickshaw bearing R/No. NL 07F 2429 and NL 07F 4493 which were used during the commission of the robbery were seized. A case was registered and efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.
