GOC-IN-C Eastern Command visits; meet Guv, CM

Kohima, Janaury 8 (MExN): Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command visited the field formations and forward areas of Assam Rifles and Indian Army on January 7 and 8 respectively, a defence release informed today.

 

During the visit the Army Commander was briefed in detail by various Commanders on ground about the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness, infoired a press release issued by Lt Col Sumit K Sharma, PRO (Defence) Kohima.

 

Chauhan expressed his satisfaction on the security measures and operational preparedness of the security force and complimented the troops of both the security forces for carrying out a commendable job with regards to efficiently managing the security situation in the state, it said.  

 

Earlier, the Eastern Army Commander accompanied by General Officer Commanding Spear Corps and IG Assam Rifles (South) met the Governor of Manipur Dr Najma Heptulla at Raj Bhavan on January 7.

 

On the same day, he also interacted with the Chief Minister Shri N Biren Singh and discussed the security situation in Manipur, the release added.
