Kohima, April 27 (MExN): Nagaland Governor La Ganesan on Sunday felicitated students from St. Xavier College, Jalukie, who had participated in the Cultural Parade during the Republic Day celebrations at New Delhi earlier this year.
The ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, coinciding with the live screening of the 121st episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme.
Congratulating the students, the Governor praised their outstanding contributions in representing Nagaland on the national stage. "It is heartening to see our daughters represent our State on such a grand platform. Your participation embodied the spirit of unity, diversity, and inclusivity that our Republic stands for," Ganesan said.
He lauded the students' performances for not only entertaining the audience but also showcasing the rich cultural diversity of India. Reflecting on the Prime Minister's messages during Mann Ki Baat, the Governor emphasized the importance of service, compassion, and community building, encouraging everyone to embody these values in everyday life.
Drawing inspiration from pioneering women leaders like Sarojini Naidu, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, and Hansa Mehta, the Governor urged the students to strive for excellence and leadership in their respective fields.
The Governor also acknowledged the role of the college administration in supporting the students. He thanked the Principal and faculty of St. Xavier College for encouraging student participation in the Republic Day celebrations and called on educational institutions to adopt a holistic approach to education that nurtures creativity, passion, and overall well-being alongside academic achievement.
A special performance was presented by the students of St. Xavier College during the event, and Gaikulung Andrew, IQAC Coordinator, delivered a short speech.
The Governor concluded by congratulating the college and the students once again, urging them to continue promoting India’s cultural heritage and upholding the spirit of unity in diversity.
