The Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) is actively pursuing the improvement of the Wokha–Bokajan Road, with a technical survey completed and a concept note being prepared, Nagaland Minister for Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) G Kaito Aye informed the assembly on Tuesday.
Responding to a tabled question from MLA Achumbemo Kikon, the minister said four legislators from Wokha district had written to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in August 2024 regarding the maintenance and upgrade of the road. The matter was examined by the department, and a technical survey has since been completed, he said.
The department is also exploring submitting a proposal to the government under a suitable funding scheme, and the matter is being “actively pursued,” Aye added.
Regarding the Aghunato–Shamator Road, the minister informed the House that out of its total length of 69 kilometres, 28 kilometres are currently under construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase III (PMGSY-III). The remaining 41 kilometres will be taken up subsequently.
