Dimapur, May 26 (MExN): The GPRN/NNC (AB) has reaffirmed its “unwavering suppor”t to Working Convenor of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), N Kitovi Zhimomi, following a consultative meeting held on May 18.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the organisation said it adopted a resolution extending “full support” to Zhimomi until an “honourable and lasting” Naga political solution is achieved.
The organisation stated that it continues to function under the leadership of its President, SS Pongkhu Naga, and described itself as a people-oriented organisation.
Addressing the meeting, Pongkhu Naga said the GPRN/NNC (AB) had participated in 17 rounds of meetings among Naga Political Groups (NPGs) facilitated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) with the objective of fostering unity among the Nagas.
However, he expressed disappointment that the reconciliation process had not yielded the intended outcome, resulting in continued uncertainty over the Naga political solution.
According to the statement, the Government of India remains engaged in negotiations with the Working Committee of the NNPGs (WC-NNPGs) led by N Kitovi Zhimomi, centred on the implementation of the “Agreed Position” signed in November 2017.
The organisation further maintained that the eventual Naga political solution should be based on the Agreed Position signed between the Government of India and the WC-NNPGs.
Appealing for unity among Nagas, the GPRN/NNC (AB) urged people to rise above differences and work collectively towards securing the aspirations and future of the Naga people.
