Dimapur, March 11 (MExN): The Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has refuted reports circulating on social media and some news outlets alleging the arrest of one Yehekhu, claimed to be the Deputy Secretary of the organisation.
In a press release issued on March 11, the MIP clarified that the individual identified by the name Yehekhu, reportedly arrested from a farmhouse said to belong to a top functionary of NSCN (Khongo–Hokato) at Vihokhu Village, does not belong to or hold any position in the GPRN/NSCN (Unification).
The statement further said the person was described in the reports as the son of the late Yekishe from Shoipu Village under Satakha Police Station in Zunheboto district.
The ministry also reiterated that there is only one Naga nationalist organisation functioning under the name GPRN/NSCN (Unification), which is led by its president Gen (Retd) M B Neokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Inno Alezo Venuh.
Cautioning against spreading unverified information, the MIP urged individuals, organisations, law enforcement authorities and media outlets to verify facts before drawing conclusions.
It warned that the circulation of inaccurate or misleading reports could create confusion and tarnish the organisation’s reputation.
The GPRN/NSCN (Unification) also said it reserves the right to take appropriate action against any individual or organisation found responsible for spreading unverified allegations intended to malign the image and integrity of the organisation.
