CHUMOUKEDIMA, MAY 31 (MExN): Greenwood Higher Secondary School and Government High School (GHS) Molvom emerged champions in the boys' and girls' categories respectively at the Inter-School Pre-Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2026 for Under-17 players in Zone-2.
The tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports in collaboration with the Chumoukedima District Football Association (CDFA), concluded at Chumoukedima Football Stadium on May 29.
The competition, which began on May 27, saw participation from 21 schools, including 17 teams in the boys' category and four teams in the girls' category.
In the boys' final, Greenwood Higher Secondary School defeated King David Higher Secondary School 3-2 to claim the title.
In the girls' final, GHS Molvom secured the championship after defeating Living Stone Higher Secondary School 3-2 in a tie-breaker.
The tournament provided a platform for young footballers to showcase their talent, teamwork and sportsmanship while promoting grassroots football development among school students.
Following their performances, Greenwood Higher Secondary School, King David Higher Secondary School, GHS Molvom and Living Stone Higher Secondary School have qualified for the state-level Pre-Subroto Cup Football Tournament, which will be held at IG Stadium, Kohima next month.
