DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Red Ribbon Club of Salesian College of Higher Education, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Women's Grievance Cell & Prevention of Sexual Harassment, organized an HIV/AIDS awareness programme.
The event, aimed at educating students on the causes, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, featured a session led by Sr. Rosina, CMC, from Chavara Home. She provided insights into the transmission of the virus, its impact on the immune system, and the importance of early diagnosis. While there is no cure for HIV, she said, Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) can slow its progression and help individuals lead healthy lives.
The programme began at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome address by Fr. Dr. Paul Panii, SDB, principal of Salesian College, who stressed the importance of awareness initiatives in promoting health education. After the session, students participated in a discussion hour, raising questions about the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and preventive measures.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vikethonuo Khro, a sixth-semester student, who expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants.
