Hokato Hotozhe Sema ranked World No 1 in men’s Shot Put F57

KOHIMA, JULY 3 (MExN): Nagaland Paralympian Subedar Hokato Hotozhe Sema has achieved the World No. 1 ranking in the men’s Shot Put F57 category, according to the latest World Para Athletics Rankings.

Sema moved to the top of the rankings with fellow Indian athletes Rana Soman and Juyal Shubham placed second and third respectively.

Congratulating Sema on the achievement, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the accomplishment had brought pride to both Nagaland and the country.

“Heartiest congratulations to Subedar H. Hokato Sema, AVSM, on becoming World No. 1 in Men’s Shot Put F57 in the latest World Para Athletics Rankings. This outstanding achievement makes Nagaland and the nation proud. I wish him continued success in the years ahead,” Rio posted on X.

Sema became the first Paralympian to be conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) on June 29, 2026. He is also an Arjuna Award recipient and won the bronze medal in the men’s Shot Put F57 event at the 2024 Summer Paralympics.
