Home Minister graces Kohima Longkhüm Union silver jubilee

Kohima | October 6 : Nagaland’s home minister Imkong L Imchen today graced the silver jubilee celebration of Kohima Longkhüm Union, which took place here at the State Academy Hall.
Addressing the function, Imchen believed that the Union had contributed and offered a lot politically and culturally to the Ao community and even to the Nagas as a whole.
He said, Longkhüm was always a forerunner in all activities and is second to none. He called upon the villagers to establish themselves firm on the glorious ground and to be focused to achieve more glory for a brighter future.  While encouraging the youngsters to aim higher, the home minister said Longkhüm community has been blessed with many political and bureaucratic leaders. He also urged the Union to march forward with God and with humility and to preserve work culture.
Dwelling on the theme, ‘Re-establish your Tent’, retired IPS officer, C.Lima Imchen said, ‘To strengthen or to rebuild the tent, a good system should prevail.’  He said, people have to seriously work to think right and become a fruitful community. He felt that the celebration of Jubilee should aim at bringing out positive benefits for the welfare of the community and not just an event to celebrate.
He called upon the villagers to be upright in their actions, to embrace honesty and hard work. He also urged the villagers to uphold the good character which was inherited from the forefathers and to make Longkhüm an exemplary village for all Nagas.  “Your character should be a guiding principle for rebuilding a future Longkhüm into a better community,” he said.
Dr.Lolen, president Goodnews Ministries Dimapur who shared from the word of God urged the community to fear God and to live a virtuous life. Prof. Talitsüba (Rtd school education director), T. Imchen (Rtd IAS), C Angang Jamir, chairman, Longkhüm Village Council, presidents of Longkhüm Union from Mokokchung and Dimapur also spoke on the occasion.  Release of jubilee souvenir and obituary references of the Union pioneers were also a part of the occasion.
