Mokokchung, April 4 (MExN): A man was convicted by a court in Mokokchung for culpable homicide not amounting to murder for beating his wife to death with a wooden pole at a farmhouse in 2022.
Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mokokchung, Victo Sema (NJS) on March 30 sentenced the accused, Rajib Kormarkar, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 304 Part-II of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the order, the case dates back to November 7, 2022, when the incident took place at a farmhouse near Chungtia village. According to prosecution, Kormarkar had beaten his wife with a wooden pole, resulting in injuries that later caused her death.
The State was represented by Special Public Prosecutor/Asst Public Prosecutor M Temjenwathy Imsong and B Langshen. The investigation was conducted by UBSI Imlitemsu.
