
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 21 (MExN): Medziphema police on Wednesday, September 21 recovered a small cache of illicit liquor from a pick-up truck, which was supposedly ferrying packaged drinking water and animal feeds. According to information received, Medziphema police station was informed of a stranded vehicle (NL 07 A 3565) which was blocking traffic at NH 29 near Piphema. The vehicle had reportedly encountered a mechanical failure.
The police personnel on checking the vehicle recovered 10 cases of assorted IMFL hidden beneath 50 crates of packaged water and 19 bags of animal feed. The driver of the vehicle, identified as one Ranjit (28 years) of Lahorijan under Karbi Anglong was arrested. The vehicle, alongwith the confiscated items were later forwarded to the Excise department for necessary action.
