ILP regime enforced in Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh today announced that the Inner Line Permit (ILP) has been enforced in Manipur. The announcement was made during a press conference held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat this afternoon, December 11.

 

Biren stated that after the verbal assurance by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Parliament on Monday, the extension of Inner Line Permit to Manipur is being published in the Gazette of India today. With such publication in the Gazette of India, it is now official that ILP is being enforced in Manipur with immediate effect, he added.

 

Stating that it is a dream come true for the people of Manipur, Biren said the implementation of such law will protect the indigenous people of the State.

 

The Chief Minister acknowledged the central leaders for taking up such positive step in a short period of time for the larger interest of the State.

 

He also remembered the tireless efforts made by the people, civil society organisations, Meira Paibis (women folk), political parties etc for the implementation in the State.

 

The Chief Minister informed the media persons that necessary steps would be taken immediately to check the influx of illegal immigrants at the border areas of the State.

 

A copy of the publication in the Gazette of India was distributed during the press conference.
