Imchatoba Imchen denies quitting Koridang bye-election race

Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): Independent candidate Imchatoba Imchen on Tuesday refuted social media claims that he had withdrawn from the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency bye-election, asserting that the information circulating online was “completely misleading and malicious.”

“I, Imchatoba Imchen, an independent candidate, hereby declare that I have never withdrawn my candidature from contesting the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency bye-election 2026,” he said in a statement.

Imchen further claimed that his position in the Koridang constituency was “improving day by day.”

In addition, he informed that his supporters and the Yimlang Putu Menden of Mangmetong village held a brief meeting at 10:30 am on Tuesday morning and resolved to uphold a peaceful, free, and fair election.

The Koridang seat is witnessing a six-cornered contest. Apart from Imchatoba Imchen (Independent), the other candidates are Daochier I Imchen (BJP), T Chalukumba Ao (INC), I Abenjang (NPP), Maj Toshikaba (Independent), and Imtiwapang Kichu (Independent).

Polling is scheduled for April 9, 2026.
