Chümoukedima, April 21 (MExN): The International University, Nagaland (IUN), 6th Mile, Chümoukedima will observe World Laboratory Day 2026 on April 23 from 10:00 AM onwards at its campus.
Observed annually on April 23, World Laboratory Day highlights the critical role laboratories play in scientific discovery, healthcare, and technological advancement and event aims to promote awareness on laboratory sciences and encourage students to pursue careers in science and healthcare, the IUN stated in a press release.
Nungsangmeren Jamir, Microbiologist at the TB Culture & Drug Susceptibility Testing Laboratory, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima will be the resource person of the day.
As part of the celebration, the university will host inter-school competitions to engage students and promote scientific thinking.
These include an extempore speech competition on themes such as the role of medical laboratory science in healthcare and the importance of artificial intelligence in future medical science, as well as a poster-making competition focusing on topics like emerging diseases and the role of laboratory science in diagnosis.
Each school may nominate three participants for the competitions, the IUN stated. Educational institutions, media representatives, and the public have been invited to attend the event.
