Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The chairman of the Jalukielo Village Council clarifies to a number of statements made on July 2 over what is understood to be disputes over land ownership of villages in Peren by Sumi villages. What the corresponding allegations in the earlier statement were was unclear in the rejoinder issued by Heizieying, chairman of the Jalukielo council.
Nonetheless, the rejoinder said the statement by one K Xekiye’s “is a collection of childish narration with some folksy charm here and there to keep going with the business of poking one’s nose in someone’s historic land.”
The said K. Xekiye’s allegation of distorting ‘ground reality’, is itself “simply illusive because we believe in ‘Historical reality’ and not in yesterday’s ground reality,” the Jalukielo statement said. “It is also unfortunate that many village names such as ‘Kakiho’, ‘Shikuto', ‘K. Xekiye’ so on and so forth have been mentioned which we are never acquainted of in our dialect. One interesting thing happening in our ‘since-time-immemorial-land’ is the chronological background of a village called K Xekiye and whose head GB is K. Xekiye village himself!” the rejoinder remarked.
The Jalukielo rejoinder expressed belief in clear demarcation of land boundaries. “Jalukielo village was established with prior permission and blessings from Old Jalukie village council with consent that it shall be named as Tenyimi village and the land demarcation was done by Old Jalukie village council. Therefore we are not encroaching anyone’s land but doing our work in our rightful land given to us,” the chairman stated.
The village also clarified that it had never accused the administration or the Police force in any incident “because we are assured of the fact that any authority of the state government is well informed and just in their actions.”
It is unwise to continue with the game of waging media war when everything is black and white and the Naga public is fully aware of the real history, the Jalukielo statement reminded. “We are not too much a fool to accept or compromise to such concepts of loose landholding system because we know it surely is a bad and ugly social engineering continuously disturbing time and again by some dark forces of the society,” the rejoinder added.
