Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): Jalukielo Village Council in Peren has denounced the “gutless massacred” of one Lorhu, on September 2 who was shot dead by gunmen “without any justification by the suspected Shikuto villagers which has been traced and proof beyond doubts by youth volunteers, administration and police on verification of the spot.”
“The incident occurred in the early hour while Shri. Lorhu was on his way to attend his daily field work. The intruders way laid the victim and shot him at point blank and resorted to brutal act by chopping him with dao (a machete),” the council said in a note today. The note was appointed by the council’s chairman Heizeying Mpom.
“The Jalukielo villagers after learning the incident rushed to the spot and found the victim lying death in a pool of blood in a manner the animals were slaughtered. The incident was a clear indication of the evil designer who had been openly declared themselves in the recent past to sufice (sic) their land grabbing mission,” the council said.
Warning that the “barbaric atrocity” cannot be tolerated any further, the council said it would “not linger on as a reticent bystander in the days to come.” This act of barbarism should be condemned by all civilized society and reciprocated with a befitting response, the village said. The Jalukielo villagers express heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all civil societies and different villagers who are showing their solidarity.
