The district administration and Department of Rural Development, Nagaland, organised a Jan Manthan Sabha at Wokha Village on October 2 as part of the Jan Manthan phase of Reform Utsav 2026.

The programme brought together government officials, village council members and residents to discuss public services, government schemes and development priorities at the village level.

Addressing the gathering as special guest, ADC Wokha Renbomo Ezung said the initiative provided an opportunity for the government to understand the concerns and needs of citizens. He noted that people themselves were best placed to identify the issues affecting their communities.

Ezung said the initiative was being undertaken in line with the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, with emphasis on a bottom-up approach to development. He also encouraged residents to share their ideas and suggestions to contribute towards the betterment of society.

BBM Wokha Block (NSRLM) Nzanbemo Patton highlighted the three-stage process of Reform Utsav 2026 — Jan Manthan (Discover), Vimarsh (Deliberate) and Jan Samadhan (Deliver). He explained that the process begins with gathering suggestions from citizens, followed by deliberation and implementation of feasible reforms aimed at improving public services.

District Social Welfare Officer James Ezung called on residents to actively participate in the deliberations and identify areas where government services could be improved. He described Reform Utsav as a citizen-driven governance reform initiative intended to translate public feedback and ideas into actionable administrative and structural changes.

Meanwhile, CMO Wokha Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung urged residents to make greater use of Ayushman Bharat and other government healthcare facilities. He encouraged eligible beneficiaries to coordinate with the concerned departments for enrolment and issuance of cards and to avail themselves of the schemes available to them.

The programme concluded with an interaction between residents, village council members and representatives of various departments. The session provided an opportunity for participants to raise concerns and offer suggestions related to public services and development needs in the village.
