‘Japan Caravan’ set to promote Japan–Nagaland cultural exchange

Kohima, March 5 (MExN): A two-day ‘Japan Caravan’ cultural exchange programme aimed at showcasing Japan’s cultural heritage and fostering cultural ties with Nagaland will be held at the State Academy of Music & Dance Hall in Kohima on March 7 and 8.

The ‘Japan Caravan,’ organised by the Embassy of Japan in India in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, is open to the public and will begin at 2 PM on both days.

The programme will feature Japanese cultural performances, demonstrations, and interactive sessions, including Japanese language activities, calligraphy, and anime film screenings, informed Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director-cum-Nodal Officer, ICCR, Department of Art and Culture.

It will also provide a platform for local Naga artists to showcase their talent through performances of traditional Naga dances, and offer consultancy services for local youth interested in pursuing studies in Japan, he added.

“This programme is a great opportunity to foster cultural understanding and people-to-people connections between Japan and India,” Therie said.

A representative from the Japanese Embassy also expressed excitement about sharing Japanese culture with the people of Nagaland and learning about their vibrant traditions, the release added.

The organisers have invited the public to participate and experience the cultural exchange between Japan and Nagaland.
