DIMAPUR, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The Doyang Citizen’s Forum (DCF), Golaghat Assam, Kyong Hoho & Kyong Students Union held a joint Co-ordination meeting alongwith Border Magistrate Merapani & Golaghat, commandant 142BN CRPF & Merapani CRPF Sector Commander at 142BN CRPF Camp Merapani to discuss the ongoing issue of Merapani on 22nd August ‘2011. This was informed in a press note issued by Subenthung Kithan President, Kyong Students’ Union and Benathung Humtsoe Joint Secretary, Kyong Hoho.
In the meeting, both the parties discussed about the age-old friendship history of Ahom-Nagas. Both the parties expressed the same views to restore normalcy at Merapani, to maintain peace & tranquility in the entire border between Wokha & Golaghat District, to avoid and protect such eventualities in the near future and also urged both the Government to arrest and take stringent/befitting punishment to those perpetrators who are involved in manhandling 6 Lotha/Naga boys and destroying the properties/vehicles of one Y. Lotha of Merapani Village.
Both the parties agreed to adopt a joint resolution to avoid future recurrence in the next round of meeting though the date, time, venue of the meeting was not finalized. Deputy Commissioner Wokha & Golaghat also thanked both the parties for having such cordial relationship meeting and also urged the parties to have more meetings in order to bring more closeness, to eradicate and prevent future recurrences and to restore peace & harmony in the entire border areas of Golaghat and Wokha District.
