K Elu Ndang formally joined the Naga People's Front (NPF) on May 7, marking his maiden entry into active electoral politics after decades of work in student and tribal organisations.
Ndang was appointed as a member of the NPF's Central Executive Council (CEC).
A former general secretary of both the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Naga Hoho, the apex body representing Naga tribes across Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Myanmar, Ndang brings extensive experience in grassroots mobilisation and tribal affairs to the regional party.
Describing his induction as an “Unmerited Grace,” Ndang thanked Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio and the NPF leadership for the opportunity and pledged to work towards the party's vision of Naga unity, development, and early resolution of the Naga political issue.
Throughout his career in civil society, Ndang has been a vocal advocate for Naga unity, student welfare, the Indo-Naga political dialogue, and the repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA).
His entry to the NPF is seen as a significant addition to the party at a time of evolving political alignments in Nagaland, with observers noting his strong connect with youth and his experience in inter-tribal reconciliation.
