
DIMAPUR, APRIL 13 (MExN): Family members of Kevilevor Phizo, who passed away Friday afternoon in London, will be leaving Delhi on Sunday en route to London to bring back the body of the Naga National Council (NNC) leader.
When contacted, one of the family members and noted peace activist, Niketu Iralu, informed that he along with late Kevilevor’s younger sister Angu and her husband Neidelhou Khate will leave for Delhi on Sunday to complete necessary formalities including clearance and booking of passage for bringing back the mortal remains of the Naga leader.
Hinting that clearance and booking of passage might prove to be an uphill task, Iralu however expressed optimism that the formalities can be completed in time. “We hope and pray that the necessary formalities would be completed soon, at least on humanitarian ground,” he said.
Late Kevilevor who served as a member of the NNC’s Central Executive Committee was based in London with his older sister and NNC President Adinno Phizo. He was the eldest among the sons and third among the children of legendary Naga leader AZ Phizo. Reliable sources disclosed that Adinno Phizo also wished to accompany her brother’s final journey to Nagaland.
Khonoma Rüffüno, Kohima Unit express sadness
Meanwhile the Khonoma Rüffüno, Kohima Unit expressed sadness over the sudden demise of Kevilevor Phizo. While mourning the death of Kevilevor, the Khonoma Rüffüno, Kohima Unit, through its president said, that the departed leader gave “his all and his best for the Naga political cause.” Expressing their gratitude to the Naga people and the Naga National Council for giving Kevilevor Phizo “an opportunity to serve the cause he cherished and believed it,” the organization further expressed their “heartfelt gratitude to all well-wishes of the Naga people who supported the Naga Nation through him.”
