Kiphire observes Fire Service Week

The Fire Service Week 2026 was observed at the Kiphire Fire Station from April 14 to 20.

Kiphire, April 20 (MExN): The Fire Service Week 2026 was observed at the Kiphire Fire Station from April 14 to 20, under the theme “Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society—Together for Fire Prevention.”

The annual event pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty, and marks the anniversary of the 1944 Bombay Dock Explosion, one of India’s worst fire disasters.

During the week-long observance, the fire station organised safety drills, demonstrations, and an essay competition to enhance awareness in schools, healthcare institutions, and community spaces.

Sports events were also held in line with the Fit India Movement.

The essay competition, which saw the participation of 19 students from Classes 10 and 12 of Agape Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, concluded with Suli T Sangtam securing the first position, followed by Ivy C Sure in second and Suzila L Sangtam in third.
