Kiphire/ Tseminyu, March 18 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings held in Tseminyu and Kiphire on March 17 deliberated on a range of administrative, welfare, and development issues, while also highlighting gaps in infrastructure, service delivery, and institutional preparedness.

In Tseminyu, the DPDB meeting was held alongside the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall as part of the Jal Mahotsav observance.

Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch, who chaired the meeting, reviewed the previous minutes and apprised members that the district currently faces no shortage of fuel.

However, discussions on LPG distribution underscored structural limitations, with only two gas agencies serving the district. The DC reiterated that bookings must be made online, indicating a continued push towards digital compliance despite access challenges in rural areas.

On the upcoming Nagaland Olympics and Paralympics Games 2026, members were urged to contribute voluntarily to support sports development, pointing to resource constraints in promoting sporting activities at the district level.

As part of Jal Mahotsav, Executive Engineer and Member Secretary, DWSM, Er Kedolhuto Punyu delivered the keynote address, while District Coordinator Ashale Seb presented activities under Jal Arpan Diwas, Jal Seva Aankalan, and Jan Bhagidari.

The programme concluded with the distribution of a waste collection truck to Tesophenyu and Kandinu villages, as per the State DIPR.

Meanwhile, in Kiphire, the DPDB meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Temsuwati Longkumer reviewed key proposals and development initiatives.

Among the notable decisions, the board recommended the registration of the Pencak Silat Association after due deliberation, while also approving the proposal for upgradation of Mission School in Kiphire town, which will now be forwarded to higher authorities.

The meeting also highlighted ongoing awareness efforts by the Minority Affairs Department, with EAC (Development) Takatemjen Pongen briefing members on sensitisation programmes and schemes, including the PM Vidyalaxmi Scheme aimed at supporting meritorious students through education loans and scholarships.

He further reminded members of the District Skill Committee to submit action plan targets, pointing to delays in programme implementation.

Concerns around employment and skill development were also addressed, with officials informing the house about a State-wide Mega Job Fair scheduled at IBHIC, Dimapur, organised under the Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission in collaboration with NIELIT Kohima. Transport support by the NST has been arranged, signalling efforts to improve access to employment opportunities.

Additionally, the board recommended the correction of a village name from “Tuthuyo” to “Tethuyo” following representations from village authorities.

The meeting also reviewed action plans under the Sampoornata Abhiyaan 2.0 campaign in both Aspirational Block and District frameworks, the DIPR report added.
