Kohima District Cricket Association new team inducted

New team of Kohima District Cricket Association for tenure 2026–2029.

Kohima, June 3 (MExN):  The general body meeting-cum-handing and taking over programme of the Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) was held on June 2 at The Guardian Hotel, Kohima.

In his address, KDCA outgoing president Menguvilie Sakhrie expressed gratitude to all office bearers, affiliated clubs, players, and members for their unwavering support and collective efforts during the past three years.

Reflecting on the Association’s journey since assuming office on 2nd June 2023, he highlighted the significant strides made in reviving and strengthening district cricket through improved administration, infrastructure development, increased cricketing activities, and transparent governance.

He noted with pride that KDCA has emerged as a benchmark for cricket administration in Nagaland.

While acknowledging these achievements, he also emphasized the need for greater focus on grassroots cricket development, particularly in schools, colleges, and age-group cricket, as well as the promotion and development of women’s cricket.

He urged the incoming leadership to prioritize these areas and build upon the foundation laid by the outgoing team.

KDCA general secretary Keneilhouzo Sekhose, presented the annual activity report of the Association for the period 2025-2026, while treasurer Vikuonyü Solo, presented the treasurer’s Report and financial statement for the tenure 2023-2026.

Keviselhou Sekhose, Convenor of the KDCA Search Committee, presented the Committee’s report and recommendations for the induction of the KDCA Office Bearers for the tenure 2026–2029.

The new team will be led by Viketho Kechü as president. Other office bearers included; Vice President-Menguzetuo Sachü, General Secretary-Keneilhouzo Sekhose, Joint Secretary- Lhouvivor Sekhose, Treasurer- Vikuonyü Solo, Property Secretary-Watimongba Jamir, Information & Publicity Secretary-Thejao Sekhose, Women Coordinators-Dziesengunuo Solo and Mengusenuo Belho.

The General Body unanimously accepted and approved the recommendations of the Search Committee, and the new team were formally inducted as the Office Bearers of the Kohima District Cricket Association for the tenure 2026–2029.

The General Body also deliberated upon the draft Constitution prepared by the Constitution Drafting Committee and unanimously resolved to adopt and approve the Constitution of the Kohima District Cricket Association.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inducted team, the new President, Viketho Kechü, acknowledged and appreciated the commendable work carried out by the outgoing leadership.

He remarked that the new team had inherited a strong foundation and recognized the challenges of matching the achievements of their predecessors.

He assured the gathering that the new team would work diligently to take KDCA to greater heights.

He further stated that special emphasis would be placed on grassroots cricket development and women’s cricket while continuing to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance.

The programme was attended by members of the Apex Council, Sub-Committee members, representatives of the Players’ Association, and officials from the four registered clubs affiliated to KDCA.

The programme was chaired by Menguzetuo Sachü, Vice President, KDCA, while invocation was pronounced by Vilhoubielie Solo, Associate Pastor, Baptist Revival Church, Kohima.

Proposing vote of thanks, Thejao Sekhose, expressed appreciation to the outgoing office bearers, members of the various sub-committees, affiliated clubs, the Players’ Association, and all well-wishers who have contributed towards the growth and development of cricket in Kohima District.
