Kohima Law College conducts legal literacy & awareness campaign at Mt. Olive College

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): In collaboration with Nagaland Legal Services Authority & NVCO, the Kohima Law College conducted Legal Literacy & Awareness campaign at Mt. Olive College, Kohima on 15th July, 2011.
The main speaker Kezhokhoto Savi, advocate and president NVCO dwelt on Consumer Rights stating that students are to detect several factors, which are causing Price-Rise in the essential commodities. We cannot remain as a silent spectators anymore but we are to fight against the menace of illegal collections of money/tax which is the main factor contributing to price-rise, stated a press note.
“Prices in Kohima Kohima are more than prices in Mokochung and few more district headquarters. Dimapur has become the main centre for the collection of illegal collections of taxes & Kohima has become the main centre for fund-raise. Mr. Savi asked the students not to sell newspapers by way of collecting donation as it is affecting the dignity of labour and money value as well in the minds of young people. The butcher, fishmonger were still cheating the consumers by way of unfair means of practice in weightment (sic),” the note said.
The other speakers include Hutoshe, Dorothy, Vekho, Tain and  Atoba dwelt on the topic- children care & protection/juvenile, F.I.R, R.T.I, Legal Services Authority & Your rights if arrested respectively. The students of Mt. Olive College has actively participated in the interrection session. The full set consisted of several booklet & pamphlets printed & published by Nagaland Legal Services authority has been distributed to all the students attended the programme, the press note said.
