The Kikrüma Students' Union Kohima (KSUK) held its 41st General Session & Freshers' Meet- cum- Orientation Programme on October 3 at the State Academy Hall, Kohima under the theme “Empowered Youth : Bridging Dreams and Reality.”
Gracing the session as the guest speaker, Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome, President, Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) urged upon the students to equip with the knowledge, skills, confidence, values and opportunities to thrive in life. “Education and skills give us the power to move forward,” he said.
Stating that youth are the backbone of the society and the future leaders, he called upon the students to do well in life and make their parents, clan & village proud. Yhome said that youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are the strength and change-makers of today.
“Every young person carries dreams—dreams of achieving something meaningful, building a better future, helping their families and contributing to society,” he said. “Have a clear goal and vision for your future,” he said. He also urged the students to be ambassador for peace and unity in the society. Yhome asked the students to look at positive side and face the various challenges ahead.
The resource persons of the session included: Dr. Sao Tünyi, Public Health Professional/Farmer, Providence Garden, Kikrüma, Küveselü P. Khamo, Freelance Designer and Vekhohü Puro, EAC, Peren. They spoke on the topics “Agricultural Farming & Marketing,” “Fashion Designing & Tailoring” and “Strategic Preparation for Competitive Examination” respectively.
Greeting was shared by Lindi Nienu, Vice President, Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU). Presidential address was delivered by Nüsato Puro, President, KSUK. Nütso Puro, General Secretary, KSUK gave the general secretary report while acknowledgement to the dignitaries was led by Votsolü Tünyi, Social & Cultural Secretary, KSUK.
Mudohu Kezo, Pastor, CCRC Upper PWD Kohima led prayer for freshers. Pfülü Puro & Onüsalü Puro presented folk song. Lotsülü M. Tunyi spoke on behalf of the freshers. Vote of thanks was proposed by Veze Tunyi, Vice President, KSUK
