KTHU resents trade union registration suspension

Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Kohima Town Hotel Union (KHTU), in its executive meeting held on July 8, 2011 has expressed resentment against the policy of suspension of registration of Trade Union by the Labour Department. It has also urged the competent authority to review the matter to revoke the order in the interest of all business community set up in Kohima seeking registration.
A press note issued by  N.Theyo, Vizekuo Belho, Ruokuozelie Angami, president, vice-president and general secretary, respectively of KTHU respectively stated that the union had applied for registration which is approved by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima district and Kohima Municipal Corporation, also fairly recommended the case to Home Department, government of Nagaland for  consideration of registration. The note also stated that the Home department processed the case and forwarded the same to Law Department for legal advice, and after examining the case and found it right, endorsed the file to Home Department for final order. Then, the Home Department referred the matter again to Labour Department for registration. While the, matter was under process, the Labour Department suddenly announced that registration of the Union is suspended, KTHU stated.
“Such kind of suspension of registration is not acceptable because it hampers the work of any business enterprise, besides the fact that it is not a progressive policy of the Government. The educated Naga youth who are willing to work by opening hotel business are not given due opportunity,” it stated.
