Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite has declared its "Sarv Jeev Sewa – Hunger Relief Project" a permanent monthly service initiative after completing a year-long programme of food distribution across Dimapur and adjoining areas.
The project was carried out during the Lionistic Year under the leadership of club president Lion Meena Jain and chairperson Lion Prity Jain (Mona).
According to a statement, the club organised 12 hunger relief projects and food drives at various locations, including Gurudwara Langar, Deaf Biblical School for the Deaf, Gauri Shankar Mill at Bokajan, Shani Mandir, Jain Temple Terrace, Mother Teresa Old Age Home, Prodigal Home Fellowship Colony, Shiv Mandir at Rangapahar, Ananda Vatika Farmhouse at Khatkhati and other community service locations.
The initiative aimed to provide nutritious meals and food support to underprivileged families, senior citizens, children, daily wage workers and stray animals.
Club members distributed cooked meals, dry rations and other essential food items to beneficiaries during the drives.
The club said the positive response from the community had prompted it to adopt the "Sarv Jeev Sewa – Hunger Relief Project" as a permanent service programme, with the initiative to be conducted every month.
It said the year-long activities reflected the Lions Clubs' motto, "We Serve", while promoting community welfare, social responsibility and compassion towards all living beings.
