LFC: VFC to meet A1 Tsungiki in final

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 6 (MExN): Last year’s runners-up Vungoju Football Club will play against A1 Tsungiki in finals of the 10th Lotha Football Championship, organized by Wokha District Football Association tomorrow at local Ground Wokha.
Er. Chonronthung Ezung, executive Engineer (Electrical), Wokha will grace the closing ceremony as the special guest.
In a close encounter match of the first semi final match played between VFC and Friends Club Wokha Village (FCWV), VFC defeated FCWV via tiebreaker after both the teams’ failed to score after the full allotted time.
Despite several attempts on goal by both the teams in the added time, the teams failed to find the net. VFC goalkeeper, Meribemo displayed an outstanding performance both during the match and penalty shootout saving one too many sure goals from the opponent side. The match was decided via tiebreaker, where VFC won by 3-2.
In the second semi finals A1 Tsungiki easily defeated NRSA by 5-0 to enter the finals.
P. Zubenthung Humtsoe graced the first semi as the match patron, while in the second match SDO (C), Wokha, Chonpenthung Ezung was the match patron.
The third place match will be played between NRSA and Friends Club Wokha Village, before the start of the grand finale. Earlier during the day an exhibition friendly match was played between WDFA and Wokha District Veteran Football Association, and the fund raised during the match will be used for charity cause.
