Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe has urged the youth of India to actively participate in the democratic process, saying the ballot remains the most effective means of bringing political change.
In a message addressed to the youth, Humtsoe said India, as the world's largest democracy, derives its greatest strength from the constitutional right of every citizen to vote.
Referring to the ongoing CJP protest in Delhi, he cited the party's national president Chirag Paswan as saying he was not in favour of suppressing the voices of students and youth.
Humtsoe said Paswan acknowledged that students naturally experience anger and anxiety when confronted with serious issues and stressed that their concerns should be addressed through meaningful dialogue.
According to him, Paswan maintained that dialogue was the best way to resolve such issues and that every democratic government must listen to the genuine concerns of young people.
At the same time, Humtsoe said Paswan had consistently reminded the youth that the ultimate power to bring about political change lies with the people through the ballot box. If citizens lose confidence in any government, they should exercise their constitutional right to vote and elect leaders committed to serving the nation, he said.
Appealing to young voters, Humtsoe urged them to rise above hatred, division, violence and misinformation. He called on them to register as voters, understand public issues, question political parties and elect leaders who demonstrate integrity, accountability, transparency and commitment to national development.
He said democracy is strengthened through peaceful dialogue, adherence to constitutional values and active participation in the electoral process, adding that every election provides an opportunity to reward good governance and reject poor governance through democratic means.
Humtsoe also called for collective efforts to build an India that ensures equal opportunities, quality education, employment, social justice and inclusive development for all citizens.
"The future of our nation depends on the wisdom, courage and participation of its youth. Your vote is your strength. Your participation is your responsibility. Your vision will shape India's future," he said.
