Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): The Lotha Lower Range Public Organization (LLRPO), Bhandari leaders has appealed to the people of Assam not to resort to the newspaper war and blaming/alleging one another, but as ‘brothers and sisters’ to meet and negotiate and settle the problems in the best interest of peace and co-existence of both the states. The organization also said that newspaper war will not bring any solution to the problems, but bring more hatred misunderstanding between the people of Assam and Nagaland.
LLRPO made the appeal after what it claimed were “false and complete distorted news” given by two Assam News agencies; thereby both the people of Assam and Nagaland are creating problems in their respective areas.
A press note issued by Yingashumo Kithan, president and Chenirao Jami, general secretary, LLRPO stated that both the news agency have distorted completely the truth about the August 14 and 15, 2011 incidents near Lakhuti Village and Maratchu (Merapani) under Wokha district,
Nagaland.
Meanwhile, rejoinder was issued to Asom Jatayatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad’s AJYCP (Jorhat agency) and Pranjit Sarmah, Times of Assam, Guwahati that was published on September 1, 2011 in some local dailies.
The note mentioned that according to the murder case incident on August 14, 2011 near Lakhuti village, one Soru Bhai Ali murdered Habib Ali who is said to be his business partner in selling of cows to the said village. Soru Bhai Ali has killed Habib Ali who has failed to give the due share owed to Soru Bhai Ali. As per the confessional/confessional statement of Sorum Bhai Ali before the Police and the Court of law, Habib Ali was killed by him. The note also said that despite a confessional statement given by the accused and the State Police reports on the murder case, the Assam news agencies are giving false and complete distorted news.
“Out of false and distorted news reports, the Assam people are not going to gain anything except mistrust and misunderstanding which will ultimately jeopardize/endanger our good relationship,” LLRPO said.
The leaders of LLRPO, Bhandari also warned the Assam News agencies not to issue news reports which are childish. LLRPO also questioned as to why Assam new agencies failed to verify or enquire from the State Government of Nagaland.
