Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): The Naga Council today strongly censured the growing menace of non-locals (Non-Nagas persons) who are spreading fear, terror and actively indulging in criminal activities under the patronage of “local sympathizers.”
The Naga Council denounced another such incident on September 19 when a group of anti-socials, stating to be from ‘NSCN (IM) UT1’ led by a non-Naga, one Nissan Muna attempted to abduct a Naga person, one Shezota Lohe, from Residency Colony in Dimapur.
Judiciary asked to ‘let law take course’
The organization congratulated the police for arresting the main culprit the said Nissan Muna, a non-Naga believed to be operating in collusion with the so-called “UT (1)” cadres.
“We strongly decry the fact that several cases have surfaced where a section of criminals from grey zones have pounced upon innocent and hapless citizens especially in Dimapur and created terror by looting through dubious means and upgrading into abduction and kidnapping under patronage of local sympathizers,” the Naga Council said. The Naga Council has demanded from the police not to free the arrested “leader” but through him hunt down the other accomplices and award them the severest punishment to all at the earliest possible.
The organization expressed frustration at the latest attempt to kidnap in Dimapur. The Naga Council issued a statement today saying Shezota Lohe was an innocent and sincere citizen residing in Residency Colony. On 19 September, 2011 four miscreants stating to be from NSCN (IM) UT (1), dragged him out from his house to their Maruti Zen DL-6CB-5867 at 8:30 PM and attempted to force him away, the Naga Councils stated.
“It was only through providence that he managed to free himself and escape while the miscreants tried and failed to start their Zen. The miscreants escaped in the darkness when neighbors came out after hearing the shouts of the victim. Ostensibly, miscreants returned to pick him up at 10:20 PM, according to a copy of appeal Letter from victim received by Naga Council today,” the Naga Council said.
“It is indeed a matter of great distress for all citizens to know that kidnapping and abduction of school kids and innocent citizens could carry on audaciously inspite of public outcry and the Law at their heels,” the Naga Hoho said.
Once again, the Naga Council has appealed to the ‘legal fraternity’ not to ‘work or procure bail’ for such criminals but to let the law take its course in awarding befitting punishment.
