Longleng hosts community disaster response training

Longleng, May 26 (MExN): A two-day Community First Response (CFR) training programme aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response at the community level concluded at PBCA Hall, Longleng, on May 26.

The programme was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Nagaland State Branch in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA). Representatives from churches, government departments, and civil society organisations attended the training.

Resource persons highlighted the importance of first response mechanisms during emergencies and imparted practical training on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), choking response, first aid for fractures, wounds and bleeding, heart attacks and cardiac arrest, dressing and bandaging, recovery position, and transportation of casualties.

Participants were also sensitised on disaster management concepts, including the Disaster Management Act 2005, disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery measures through presentations delivered by DPA DDMA Longleng, Vesuto Puro.

The training sessions were conducted by Managing Committee Member and First Aid Master Trainer of IRCS Nagaland State Branch, Kholie Dolf; Programme Coordinator, Noulevituo Zumu; and UDA, Mhaleno Epuo. 

The programme, the State DIPR informed, focused on building community-level preparedness and equipping participants with basic life-saving skills for effective response during disasters and emergencies.
