Longleng sets up emergency control room

Longleng, July 24 (MExN): The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Longleng, on Friday set up a District Emergency Control Room and directed all departments to assess damage caused by recent heavy rains across the district.

The decisions were taken at an emergency meeting chaired by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Yachem, C Tsalimse Sangtam, at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall.

During the meeting, the chair directed all heads of departments under the DDMA to verify damage to houses, property and livestock in every village and submit details in the format prescribed by the Home Department.

The EAC informed the meeting that the District Emergency Control Room had been established at the Deputy Commissioner's office and urged all departments to immediately report any casualties.

He also said restoration of road connectivity in the district is expected to take two to three weeks, while stocks of fuel and other essential commodities remain limited.

Officials were asked to ensure judicious use of the available resources until road connectivity is restored and to communicate the advisory to their respective departments.
