
Dimapur | July 18 : Acting on tip-off regarding arms smuggling being carried out at Burma Camp area, the Special Branch Dimapur on the wee hours of Monday apprehended one accused along with seven different types of arms from the same area.
The Special Branch team deployed in the area closely followed one person, a non-local, suspiciously moving around and later apprehended him from his residence at Burma Camp near railway track at around 3 am.
The accused was identified as Sanjay Sharma, son of Arjun Sharma of Maniyar Chowk Village, P.S/P.O Piri Bazar, district Lukhsarai, Bihar.
According to a Special Branch report, the accused, on being questioned, “voluntarily stated” that he brought the seized items from Bihar for sell.
The seizure list as provided by the Special Branch included: one Revolver (unserviceable); one .22 Pistol with magazine B/No 183 USA; one .22 Pistol with magazine B/No 0110 Italy made; one .22 Pistol with magazine; one 7.65 Pistol with magazine B/No 7607 Italy made; one 7.65 Pistol with magazine B/No 01072 and one 7.65 Pistol (brand new) with magazine B/No 1904 USA made.
