Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): An unidentified male succumbed to injuries after allegedly being run over by a train near the Flyover Bridge at KM 260/3-4 between Dimapur and Khatkhati on May 7.
According to a press note issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, a written memo was received from the Station Manager of NF Railway Dimapur at around 5:25 pm stating that a male with serious injuries was found lying near the railway track.
Upon receiving the information, police personnel from the GRPS rushed to the spot and found that the unidentified individual, believed to be a non-local, had sustained severe injuries after being run over by a train. Both his legs had been crushed and he had also sustained head injuries.
The victim was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing medical treatment.
After completion of legal formalities, the body was shifted to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for post-mortem examination and identification.
Police said the deceased was wearing a black and white striped T-shirt and black half pant. He was described as fair-complexioned, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with identifying marks including a black mole near the right shoulder and another on the right leg.
