Manipur: AMUCO to oppose imposition of Hindi

All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) on September 27 said that it will sternly oppose any move to impose Hindi in the "region."

 

Despite being the national and official language of India, the Centre is trying to impose Hindi as common language of the country, said AMUCO. "This has created apprehension among the people of the region", newly elected president of AMUCO, Pheiroijam Nando said.

 

The new president of AMUCO was talking to reporters after he took the charge of the president of the organisation.

 

Nando took the charge of AMUCO president from outgoing president Ph Deban in a function held at AMUCO office in Imphal’s Kwakeithel along with other newly elected functionaries of the body.

 

The new president of AMUCO the organisation is minutely studying the alleged Centre’s intention to impose Hindi.

 

Nando then said that AMUCO "stands firm" on protection of Manipur’s territorial integrity. He also said that AMUCO will fight tooth and nail against any move to disintegrate Manipur.

 

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, outgoing AMUCO president, Ph Deban alleged that the government of India never takes into account the Northeast region of the country while preparing government policies and programmes.

 

The outgoing president of AMUCO was referring to Citizen Amendment Bill and others which are "tantamount" to infringe the interest of the people of the region.
