Imphal, December 4 (NNN): The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), the apex organisation of Liangmai community in Manipur has welcomed the declaration of Chaga Ngee as a restricted state holiday on October 30 by the Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh.
The council thanked the CM “for his love and support rendered to the Liangmai Naga community.” They also appreciated Awangbou Newmai, Minister of Forest and Environment, Climate Change and Sericulture “for his relentless efforts” to make sure that the Chaga Ngee a recognised restricted holiday in Manipur State.
In a press release, the LNC (M) said that on October 30, of every year the Liangmai tribe celebrates Chaga Ngee as one of the biggest festivals. It is a festival of purification or sanctification and rededication of life to God and Chaga Ngee is the biggest and the most important festival of the Liangmai community.
