Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh called on the people of the state today to take responsibility for preserving the state's rich cultural heritage and traditions. Speaking at the State Level Gaan-Ngai celebration held at Sagolband Ramji Kabui village in Imphal West, Singh emphasized the importance of unity and collective efforts in maintaining the indigenous customs of all communities in the state.

“The relationship and coexistence among all indigenous communities have existed since time immemorial. We need collective efforts to foster a sense of belongingness and oneness," he said, urging the people to honor the legacy of their ancestors.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, referencing the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles, USA. “Mankind has not done justice with nature, and as a result, natural calamities are increasingly affecting the world, including our state,” Singh remarked, stressing the need for proactive measures to protect nature. He urged support for the "Green Imphal, Green Manipur" initiative, which he spearheaded as Forest and Environment Minister in 2004-05.

Further outlining development plans, the Chief Minister announced that the state government has requested an additional Rs. 100 crore for the upgradation of the Sangai Ethnic Park in Moirang Khunou. He also noted that a Unity Mall would be established in Keikol, Imphal East, with a budget of approximately Rs. 150 crore.

Singh also addressed ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity, particularly in the hill districts. He mentioned that travel time to Tamenglong has been reduced from three hours to just 45 minutes due to improved roads. Additionally, construction work is set to begin for roads connecting Tamei to Tamenglong and Tamei to Kangpokpi, with an estimated budget of Rs. 20 crore. The construction of the Imphal-Kangchup road is nearing completion, with plans for three new bridges that will reduce travel time to Guwahati to just eight hours.
