Police commandos conducted massive search operations in some parts of Imphal West district on January 10 as security has been stepped up across Manipur, particularly in valley districts ahead of the Republic Day celebration.
Commandos attached with Imphal West district police conducted the search operations at the localities at Sagolband and Tera areas of the district on Friday morning.
A police source said that the police conducted search operations on many selected houses, particularly rented houses in the areas from early morning. During the operations, it verified around 800 people. However, no arrest was made, the source also said.
Besides conducting random frisking and checking on all routes leading the state capital, operations to flush out underground elements have been going on in sensitive areas in the state capital and its outskirts in the past few days, the source added.
The security measures have been enhanced as a pre-emptive measure ahead of Republic Day.
