Imphal, August 16 (PTI): Manipur''s COVID-19 tally shot up to 4,569 on Sunday as 179 more people tested positive for the infection, while three more fatalities pushed its coronavirus death toll to 16, a health official said.
Sixty-eight new patients are civilians while the rest are security personnel, he said.
Only eight of the 68 civilians have travel history, while the remaining infections were detected during contact tracing, the official said.
The fresh infections have pushed the number of active cases in the state to 1,921, of which 944 are security personnel, he said.
Two civilians, aged 94 and 73, from Thoubal and Imphal West districts respectively, and a 44-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) personnel succumbed to the disease, the official said, adding they had comorbidities.
A total of 194 more people have been cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,632, he said.
The recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients in the state stands at 57.60 per cent, the official added.
