 
                          
                  
A committee comprising of 5 members each from Maram Union and Mao Council has been constituted to look into the impasse between Northern Maram People’s Organisation (NMPO) and Makhan
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30 (MExN): The second joint consultative meeting between the Maram Union and Mao Council, held on September 30, has constituted a committee comprising of 5 members each from the two tribal Apex bodies to look into the impasse between Northern Maram People’s Organisation (NMPO) and Makhan.
To be headed by the presidents of the respective tribes, the committee was formed after prolong discussion dwelling into multi-dimensional aspects into the matter, stated a press release from Maran Union general secretary, Pungdi P Celestine and Mao Council general secretary, Lokho Ozuo.
A meeting of the said committee is scheduled in Katomei on October 9, it said.
In this regard, Maram Union and Mao Council has appealed both the NMPO and Makhan to restrain “from any activities that may escalate or aggravate the situation at hand.”
The 2nd joint consultative meeting in Katomei village was effected after suggestion from Naga People’s Organization(NPO)/Senapati to two tribal Apex bodies to “intervene into the impasse between NMPO & Makhan to come up with tangible measures,” the release said.
The 1st round of consultation was held on September 26.
Towards this humble peace building efforts, the Maram Union & Mao Council while appealing NMPO & Makhan to restrain from any activities that may escalate or aggravate the situation at hand, also called for a conducive “environment to prevail in order to enable the goodwill take place.”
