Mokokchung, March 12 (MExN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has informed the public that there is no shortage of fuel or LPG cylinders in Mokokchung and that supplies are continuing as normal.
In a public information notice, the MCCI stated that “there is no shortage of fuel (petrol and diesel) and LPG cylinders in the market. All supplies are continuing as normal.” It further requested the public “not to panic or resort to hoarding.”
The Chamber also cautioned residents against spreading or believing rumours related to supply disruptions. “While tensions in the Middle East are real and their global effects are evident, the public is requested not to fall prey to rumours or unconfirmed information,” it stated.
According to the MCCI, it will ensure that essential commodities remain available in the market. “MCCI will ensure that all essential commodities, including petrol, diesel and LPG, remain available in the market under normal conditions,” the notice stated.
It added that in case the global situation worsens, appropriate announcements would be made in consultation with authorities. “In the event that global geopolitical tensions escalate and situations spiral out of control in the future, MCCI will, in consultation with the relevant authorities, make appropriate announcements.”
Meanwhile, the Chamber also informed members of the business community about reports of unsolicited demands. “All members of the business community in Mokokchung are informed that there are reports of ‘underground’ elements seeking unsolicited ‘donations’. Members are advised to remain vigilant and report any such incidents to the MCCI office promptly,” the notice added.
