MGM College NSS team wins folk dance title at Northeast festival

Dimapur, June 28 (MExN): Nagaland brought laurels to the state by winning the Folk Dance Competition at the Northeast National Service Scheme (NSS) Festival held at Arunodaya University in Arunachal Pradesh from June 24 to 28.

The five-day festival witnessed the participation of NSS volunteers from all eight northeastern states and aimed to promote unity, leadership, cultural exchange and the spirit of community service.

Nagaland was represented by a contingent of 32 NSS volunteers and one Programme Officer, Sentikala, from MGM College, Dimapur.

The Nagaland team secured the first position in the Folk Dance Competition with a performance showcasing the state's rich cultural heritage and traditions. The performance received appreciation from judges and fellow participants.

Besides winning the folk dance title, the Nagaland contingent also participated in the Quiz Competition, PowerPoint Presentation and Extempore Speech events, demonstrating their skills in academics, communication and public speaking.

According to the organisers, the festival provided a platform for young volunteers from across the Northeast to strengthen the values of leadership, national integration and selfless service while promoting cultural understanding.

The Principal, faculty members and the MGM College fraternity congratulated the volunteers and Programme Officer Sentikala for their achievement and for representing Nagaland with distinction at the regional festival.
