Dimapur, June 4 (MExN): MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, on Thursday felicitated its outstanding performers in the HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2026 at a special programme held on the school assembly ground.

The event honoured Aman Kumar, who emerged as the HSLC state topper and subject topper in Social Science, Hindi and Foundation of Information Technology (FIT), and Amina Begum, who secured the fifth rank in the HSSLC Science stream and topped the subjects of Physics and Hindi.

The programme began with an invocation by Angel Konyak, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Enanylou compered the event.

In his welcome address, Headmaster Biswajit Paul praised the dedication, perseverance and hard work of the achievers, stating that their accomplishments reflected not only their individual efforts but also the support and commitment of parents, teachers and the school management.

A cultural dance presented by the School Dance Club added colour to the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Vice President Fr Giju George congratulated the rank holders and commended their discipline and determination. He noted that the school's consistent record of producing board examination rank holders had brought pride to both the institution and the wider community.

 

Highlighting the broader purpose of education, he said true learning extends beyond academic achievement to include character formation, values and responsible citizenship.

The programme was also attended by village council members and representatives of the Midland Colony Council. Speaking on behalf of the council, Executive Member Robert Angami congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the school, teachers and parents in nurturing academic excellence.

As a mark of appreciation, he presented a certificate to the principal and bouquets to the rank holders while assuring the council's continued support for educational development.

The two students were felicitated with mementos and cash awards in recognition of their achievements.

Principal Reji Abraham congratulated the students and said success is built on self-belief, discipline, confidence and consistent hard work. He thanked parents, teachers, the school management, Fr Giju George and members of the Midland Colony Council for their support and encouragement. He also wished the outgoing vice president success in his future endeavours and acknowledged his contributions to the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Aman Kumar expressed gratitude to the school, teachers and parents for their unwavering support and encouraged younger students to dream big, stay focused and work consistently towards their goals.

Amina Begum also thanked the school for the recognition, describing it as a significant milestone in her academic journey. She urged students not to be discouraged by temporary setbacks and to remain committed to their aspirations.
